A sample question from Primary 2

A pencil costs 15¢. Sara has 50¢. What is the greatest number of pencils she can buy?

Answer: 3

Worked solution

  1. Count by 15s: 15, 30, 45. That is 3 pencils for 45¢.
  2. A 4th pencil would make 60¢, which is more than 50¢.
  3. She can buy 3 pencils and will have 5¢ left.

Read-only. Every other question opens after sign-in; each child's first round is free.
