Elementary Level 包含的内容
The vocabulary section of the Elementary Level SSAT for students now in grades 3–4: synonyms (pick the word closest in meaning to the word in capitals) and analogies (finish a word pair that works the same way). Words come from third- and fourth-grade science, technology and social studies. 30 questions in 20 minutes, five choices, no penalty for wrong answers.

Synonyms
Choose the word closest in meaning to the word in capitals.

- Synonyms — Everyday & School Words — Say the word in a short sentence you know ('a hasty choice'), then try each choice in its place.
- Synonyms — Word Parts — Cover the prefix or suffix, find the base word, then add the meaning back: un- = not, re- = again, -less = without.
- Synonyms — Look-alikes & Near Misses — If a choice LOOKS or SOUNDS like the capital word, be suspicious: test its meaning, not its spelling.
Analogies
Find how the first pair is related, then pick the pair (or word) related the same way.

- Analogies — Opposites, Degree & Qualities — Make a sentence: 'Ancient is the opposite of new.' 'A whisper is a much softer shout.' Then test every choice in it.
- Analogies — Parts, Groups & Kinds — Ask: is it a PART of it, a MEMBER of it, or a KIND of it? Keep the small thing first if the stem does.
- Analogies — Tools, Jobs & Uses — Say what the thing DOES or who USES it: 'A broom is used to sweep.' 'A pilot flies an airplane.'
- Analogies — Places, Causes & Stages — Where does it live or belong? What does it lead to? What does it grow into? Put that in a sentence.
- Analogies — Sound-alike Words — If the stem words SOUND the same but are spelled differently, the answer pair must do the same.
升到 Middle Level 需要什么
- 覆盖本级至少 80% 的知识点，其中至少 50% 达到掌握（通过间隔复习确认，而不是某一天做得好）。
- 在 60 天内通过 2 次不同试卷的完整模拟考试，两次至少间隔 7 天。
- 答题速度稳定：每题用时中位数不超过 40 秒。

- Check the answer in the same sentence: pond fits.
- The others fail: gill a part of a fish; swim what a fish does; saddle gear for a horse; grass its food.
