    Choose the word closest in meaning.

    • Synonyms — Core — Define the word yourself first; eliminate antonyms and look-alikes; choose the closest meaning, not a related idea.
    • Synonyms — Advanced — Recall a context (a 'laconic reply', 'ephemeral fame'); test each choice in that phrase; watch the word's positive or negative charge.
    • Synonyms — Word Roots — Split the word into Latin/Greek parts (circum-spect = look around) and rebuild the meaning.

  2. Sentence Completion

    Choose the word or pair that best completes the sentence.
